About
The Tennessee Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (TNACRAO) is a long-standing professional organization dedicated to the advancement of higher education enrollment services across Tennessee. Its origins trace back to informal meetings in the late 1930s, held in Nashville and at Peabody College, where early leaders such as Dr. J. Ridley Stroop and Dr. R. F. Thomason established the foundation for statewide collaboration. The organization formalized in the 1940s as the Tennessee Branch of the American Association of Registrars. After a brief pause during World War II, TNACRAO resumed activities and continued expanding, reaching more than 84 institutional members and over 520 representatives by 2004. TNACRAO’s annual meeting remains its signature event, rotating among Tennessee’s three geographic divisions. Additional initiatives include regional workshops, a Summer Admissions Workshop, and the Registrars Roundtable. The Statewide Coordinating Committee oversees Tennessee’s college day and night programs, providing guidance to both secondary and postsecondary institutions. Grounded in a tradition of service, collaboration, and professional development, TNACRAO continues to support enrollment management professionals across the state.
